Vandana Haldar's Story

Student Achiever of Nai Disha Free Education Society School

Vandana Haldar, a girl child, is an example of the wonderful change and development that a good education can bring to a child. Vandana comes from an economically backward family background. She lost her mother when she was an infant and her father remarried and abandoned her. She was adopted by her uncle and aunt but they too were financially not able to support her school education.

Her foster parents brought her to Nai Disha Free Education Society School and we admitted her in class 2. She studied at our school for four years and completed her primary education classes 2, 3, 4 and 5 with us. We found her to be an intelligent child who grasped her learning very well. She was a friendly child who took pleasure in learning her lessons and took active part in all the school activities. She attended school regularly and was respectful to her teachers. She excelled in her class tests and scored high marks in her final examinations.

After she completed her class 5 from Nai Disha School, Vandana wanted to continue her education and took admission in Amity International School, Noida which is one of the best schools in Noida and is highly sought after by one and all for schooling of children. It enjoys excellent reputation in the field of child education. She confidently competed with all the children in the general category in the admission test conducted by the Amity International School and was selected for admission to class 6 on her own merit. This was a testimony not only to her own intelligence but also to the education imparted to her by the Nai Disha Free Education School during her primary classes.

She has completed four years of education with Amity and she is now in class X. Her academic performance has been excellent. She scored 94.4 % in class 7, 80 % in class 8 and over 80 % in class 9. Vandana remembers her education at Nai Disha Free Education School and says fondly, "I have completed my Primary education from Nai Disha School. Nai Disha has made my foundation of education very strong. In future I want to become a doctor".

Nai Disha Free Education Society has continued to support her education even after she passed out from our school on completion of her class 5. For the last four years, Nai Disha has been paying half of the monthly tuition fees, that Amity International School charges her. Presently, Nai Disha pays her Rs 700/- per month towards her tuition fees at Amity International School.

At Nai Disha Free Education School, we are proud of the part we have played in giving Vandana her primary education during her formative years. We believe that the good education that Vandana received during her studies at our school is standing her in good stead and we are confident it will continue to do so in future in her quest to achieve her goal of becoming a doctor. Vandana is but one example. At Nai Disha there are about 500 children from economically backward segments of our society who are receiving their primary education free.

Thanks to the free primary education at Nai Disha in her formative years Vandana is now approaching her class X with confidence like any other hardworking child of her age. Her aspiration of becoming a doctor is now within her reach and grasp.

Rahul Jha's Story

Student Achiever of Nai Disha Free Education Society School

Rahul Jha is a young boy who lives in Noida and hails from an economically backward family. He was born on 30 May 1996. The financial condition of his parents was such that they were not able to support his schooling. They then approached the Nai Disha Free Education Society School.

Rahul's parents brought him to Nai Disha and we admitted him in the Nursery class of our school. He completed his Nursery, Kindergarten, and classes 1 to 5 at Nai Disha. He thus received seven years of free pre- primary and primary schooling with us.

During his studies at Nai Disha, the school found him to be an intelligent child who was pleasant in disposition and learnt quickly. He participated in all the school extra-curricular activities organized for children. He attended school regularly and took pride in wearing clean school uniform and turning up punctually for classes. He fondly remembers his years at Nai Disha and says, "I started to love my studies when teachers like Usha Ma'm started teaching me. When I grow up I want to become an engineer."

On completing his class 5 at Nai Disha, Rahul joined the evening shift of Delhi Public School , Noida in class 6. He however continued to visit our school and meet teachers for guidance and advice. The affectionate bond established between him and his teachers continued to benefit him even after he had left our school. The good primary education Rahul received at Nai Disha has helped him to perform well in class 6 and beyond. At DPS Public School, he scored 94 % in the final examination of class 8. He wanted to change to the main shift of the DPS Public School but this was not permitted by the school and Rahul then decided to shift his school. He joined Mahavira School, Noida in the main shift, where he is studying now.

Rahul is well settled in his new school and his academic performance in the school continues to be encouraging. He is an intelligent and sensitive boy who is good in his studies and takes part in outdoor activities too. He composes poems in English language. An excerpt from his recent poem is given below:

Water seems to juggle,

When it flows in a hurry,

We'll one day get out of it,

So, why should you worry?

He remembers his village and likes to visit it whenever he can. He is fond of listening to music and loves natural surroundings with many trees.

Rahul is another example of how a good primary education can put a child on path of education and development. Many children from the deprived and economically backward segments of our society are deprived of early schooling and primary education. This permanently stymies their education and learning because without the benefit of primary education such children are deprived of all education. Nai Disha is proud of playing its positive and constructive role in providing free Nursery, Kindergarten and Primary Education to the children belonging to the economically backward sections of our society for their healthy development and growth in their early formative years.

Rahul is just one example. Thanks to his free primary education at Nai Disha in his formative seven years he is now approaching his class X with confidence like any other hardworking boy or girl of his age. His dream of becoming an engineer is now attainable.
